opportunity
KWWL approached Techline with a request: bring their outdated
reception office into the 21 st century. Last redone in the 70's
the room was dark, dingy, and had a poor utilization of space.
solutions
Armed with a plan Techline came in and first took the office down to its bare bones and redesigned the space. A closet was added where cluttered cabinetry had previously been, and an un-used door to mail cubbies (accessible from another room) was closed up to add wall space. The workspace was carefully designed for storage and desk space using maple Techline cabinetry. A coffee station was also added for the employees.
Particleboard panels were cut into 24” squares, varnished and mounted on the back wall with hex bolts painted black to add dimension and interest. The walls were painted a bright white to best highlight six 24” square prints of the various colorful NBC peacocks used through out the years and for an extra splash of color in an un-expected place the ceiling was painted a bright vibrant red. The front of the reception office also got a makeover using the same particleboard panels and corrugated aluminum. A neon light effect was achieved using backlit acrylic under the reception ledge. results
The result was a design that made the best use of a relatively
small space and promotes an open, energetic, communicative and
productive atmosphere.
